Next Meeting: Thurs, April 16th, 2009 6:30 pm

Hello Classic 4-H Club,

This month's meeting has been moved to Thursday, April 16th at 6:30 pm due to the fact that I cannot get everything done by the previously agreed date of April 2nd. (And that is no April Fool's Joke).

The Livestock Show went well and I know at least the McCracken girls are glad for it to be over.
Samantha grew into her role as Classic 4-H Queens Contestant and won Ms Congeniality! Claire and Audrey McCracken won trophies and blue ribbons with their goats, and Samantha won 4th place with her goat and sold that Saturday for $750 with add-ons. Samantha also took home a blue ribbon for her 2nd place finish in the heifer division. You'll also have to ask Samantha what she learned about showmanship and how she ALMOST won the $500 scholarship there.

I have a few loose ends yet to tie up on the end of the year "field trip/party". I have also been recruiting members for next year. I would like to have our officers for next year in place before our last meeting in April.

Additionally, we have information on Summer Camps both here and away on everything from Cooking and Science to Traditional Week Long Summer Camps with horseback riding and ropes courses.

There a couple of places that I have looked into as field trip destinations. Click on the links below and check them out:
Moore's Farm
Moore's Farm is a teaching vegetable farm, hayride, planting, plowing, grinding corn and making cornbread among other things, cost would be about $5 per person or I may be able to get it done for free to little cost. Located in Bullard,TX.
Cherokee Trace Drive-Thru Safari Park
Cherokee Trace is a drive-thru Safari Park located in Ponta. prices per person will include all day pass and is Adults are $14/person and kids ages 3-12 $9/person.

Hope to see you at the April Meeting to plan our end of the year and last meeting in May!
